To answer the questions, terrain will make some differences on the movement speeds of the units travelling through them. As long as you want the task force to stay together, it will matter little except for a little longer delay in getting to where you want, but do not get wild and wacky about it, only major terrain will make a difference. Yes a road will be faster then through the fields and you will have a greater chance of bogging armor but I would not get too hung up on it. Look for faetures of terrain where it will be good to attack from of good to defend from, or that willl limit the enemies ability to manuvre during a battle. The Russians have the initiative now, but it could change in a moment and you could be thrown into the defensive and have to worry about being flanked or encircled. You could be attacking one part of the day and being attacked the next. The biggest thing that terrain will modify is LOS. You are already moving so chances are that the Germans will see you before you see them. When you move a task force you will have to tell me what its posture is, ATTACK, DEFENCE. When you come into range I will compare the two sides posture to determine what typw of battle it will be, if both side are on DEFENCE then there will be no battle, ect.
Now the only way that you will be moving a platoon is if that is all that is in the task force. So you will plot movements and such acurately and you can move to a location and drop off a unit or two to go on DEFENCE there and continue with the rest or whatever you want, when you enter a battle you will enter with the entire task force, and maybe more if there are two moving very close together.
I hope that answers the questions.
Yes, thanks. That makes it very clear.

The Sturmovik looks like a bargain, as well as the light rocket FO. However, I've never had much like with either. Maybe the 2 76mm FOs?
Along with the 82mm platoons we use up 7 points, and carry 1 over to the next day? Just a thought. I'm curious to hear your ideas guys.
Being that it is now Sunday, I will need the purchase to be made and me notified today.Whip Otherwise I will take it that there is no interest in reinforcements this day and will carry the points over to tomorrow. After that you will have to show me the movement paths and any orders that you want me to know soon so that this can get going. The German side has completed all their stuff already and is waiting to kick some Russian backsides.
Hi Ratzki;

Herroberst mentioned he'd be away this weekend. What is the absolute deadline? I am Pacific Standard Time, so could work on the orders upto 0800 zulu or so. Can we give him and Combat Wombat some time to give their ideas? I'm sure that I can speak for them in wanting to get at those Nazi hordes.

Thanks!

Willow
Hi Ratzki;

To avoid losing out on the reinforcements, I'll make an executive decision and order the platoon of 82mm mortars (3 pts) and the 76mm spotters (4 pts). We'll save 1 point for the next round. :smoke:

I'll get the movement paths to you once I get my kids to bed!

Willow
Great initiative, keep things moving along. As I said before as long as I know what is going on, I am fine with whoever wants to take the bull by the horns and take control. Thanks for stepping up.
All moves are in, and when i get home from work I will be running them and seeing what comes from them. Any battles resulting will be divided between all involved. If there are not enough battles for all players, then some battles will be played by more the one group with the results being an average(for lack of a better word) for all the same battles being fought.

The German are ready for you.

ummm sorry mate, were you talking to me as well ? .. 76mmm spotters sounds like the go -
Hi Wombat;

Yes, I was just looking for input. I've had some time this weekend to assist with our set-up, but did not (and still don't) consider myself the leader as such. I'm enjoying working on the Google maps, but I'm hoping for as much discussion as possible with yourself and herroberst....:bow:

Willow
Here's what I came up with for the first movement paths of our respective groups. Its my first effort, so please excuse the amatuerish appearance, as I am definitely an amateur!

I have the centre group using the road, and the north and south groups curving towards the centre group. I felt it was important for us to be in reasonably close proximity to each other when contact is made. As well, I figured we should focus on the town first with a combined assault, and then swing south for the airfield, again as a unified body.

I hope that turns out to be a sound plan :dunno:
