Hi Herroberst,

sounds like a good option - as I agree, it is too early to get bogged down in street fighting. with the though open layout, my tanks are able to provide support fire from a safe distance and with 81mm mortars - even better.
Great plan herroberst. I was looking at Ratzki's map with the flags, thinking it'll be fall before we took the town frontally. A question for Ratzki would be how significant cutting off the town would be - would troops there become u/s in a day or two, or are they considered to be supplied with stockpiles? Bottom line, will they wither away, or remain pretty much intact? As well, will we have to divide our existing forces with new players, or will each side's new players get their own task groups?

Regardless, I agree with your plan wholeheartedly. Thanks for your pointer re keeping my armour tighter. That definitely was a main contributor to the near debacle in my battle.:whis:
To tell you the truth, I was not looking forward to making a bunch of urban maps. I think that they can be as good to fight on as a map full of trees and other terrain, but to each his own. I did try to have it so that control of the town could be had by taking the main flags and some others that would be close to them. The town is interesting with a small lake, a ravine, and numerous open spaces, so to fight in it could allow for some good manuvering. The airstrip should be interesting to fight for as well.
As for what would happen if you managed to cut off supply to the German forces, there would be no automatic resupply between battles and after a day units would become weakened in battle as well. There are no stockpiles of supplies for either side, so both are equally in peril. Any reinforcements would not be able to get into the town without battling through the Russian encirclment, I think that the game could be won by either side rather quickly if this happened.
Okay, next movement turn I will want Task Force Combat Wombat to continue to take the crossroads.

Task Force Willow will attempt to skirt the northern edge of the city and get on that motorway to the north.

Task Force Herroberst will remain in the center and keep the Luftwaffe occupied.

Would like those mortar reinforcements to be shared out between the three task forces

When you are ready to discuss additional reinforcements let me know and I can make the decisions to arrange them.

Is there going to be other players Russian side? If so are they separate or under my "command"? Is there one in the south/south already - have seen no reporting from him?
As a spectator, let me say that this tournament is very highly entertaining. :)
I would dearly love an 81mm mortar to supress those guns ! ... and a big heap of tanks ;) .. seriously though, current contacts are at range (>100m) so I'd rather the submachine gun teams go to those expecting to engage in urban ops and have a few more rifle teams ...

cheers
Well, none of us got those last games so that is why we ordered them. Don't know what we'll be offered next game but I want you to take that crossroads.
What happens next - we have finished and my opponent has sent the file to Ratzi for review ... wait out?
I think that there is one game left to finish. As soon as it is done and the file sent to me, I will be asking for new orders and stuff, but I have to wait till this game is completed.
How did you make out in the end CW? Hopefully the other battle ends soon, and we can proceed to exact our revenge!
