Note: "First try for Tobruk  Alt" Has victory points changed to help the Germans. Because the original "First try for Tobruk" favors the Allies. This was done by Huib Versloot .  It appears that "First try for Tobruk Alt" download from the data base is missing the org. and map file. I got it to work by renaming those files King Cross_Alt.  Adding them to Huib's scn. file Bmp file. King Cross_ Alt. Would you  add those files to the Alt version.
Thanks.

Also note:
The WF scenario  "Chaos at Marnach"  is missing contents for the org and map files. You  get an error message for both of them.

I added the files to Huib's. Nothing I can do about the other unless someone shares the map file. The org file is there. It needs "Clervaux.map". The org file is there, but upper case. Not sure it matters?

Dave so Yossarian says he can play it. So, it means I'm missing some file for the map

I found this in my WF folder (attached). See if it works.

No idea. Can't you get the map file from him?

I can confirm what you're seeing. I get "error reading scenario file" then the scenario opens anyway. I save the turn and open again and get two errors and a black screen. I would say the "Chaos at Marnach" scenario is messed up. It's possible that it's very old and never converted to the new game back from the Talonsoft days. It's also possible that a designer like Big Ivan can take a look and easily fix it. Not sure. In the meantime...play something else.  Big Grin

Yes, that would be good if John could take a look at it.

RE: scenario
In the zip file it looks like the org and scn file were developed in 1999. That was the inception year for West Front 1.00 through Talonsoft.

In 2014 the West Front and other games in the series went through a conversion to the now accepted version of 2.02 through Matrix Games!

But iirc the conversion from Talonsoft to Matrix wasn't a smooth 1 for 1 transfer. Matrix added a whole bunch of stuff to the games back then and even before that with the 1.04 version previous to 2.02.

Couple that with the fact that the scenario loads initially with error. Then on follow up turns more errors and the map is blank tells me there is a compatibility issue most likely with the map file.

Well with that assessment I'm understanding it isn't an easy fix. Future possible players will have an answer.

RE: scenario
Scenario "Borodino41"

This is a discussion about bridges particularly in this scenario.

I was unable to blow the bridges as Ragnar mentioned the possibility. The bridges fit the description of a bridge that takes the whole hex. When they cover a complete hex the rules say they can not be damaged.  As was the case for me. Am I missing something here? The bridges have ramps added, Ragnar explains, but they still take up the whole hex which would put into effect the rule of bridges not being able to be damaged.

I tried to blow the pontoon bridges on the river without success.

RE: scenario
In reality, if it can be built, it can be destroyed. But, the material required was not always on hand and it would take longer than the scenario to get it.

The pontoon is another thing. That seems like it would be easier to destroy or damage.
