Does that mean old Volvos too? Please spare the Volvos!!! We can do great many things with those.
I understand your sentiments, however I've heard horror stories of how people in the US drive these smoking time bombs on their major highways causing congestion and pollution. Even repairs to them are somewhat on the side of anguish and bewilderment.
I think the Soviets planned it this way, hoping the old Volvos would still be sputtering about when they strike, tying up valuable manpower resources from reaching the front lines.
