But their formation and history in Italy was as a tank unit with Shermans, not TD unit with M10s?

Wikipedia and other sources say it was a light tank battalion, and that it trained with M5s. Odds are, they fought in M5s, as well.

Kind of ironic, that they'd fight in a tank called the Stuart.

It figures that they probably fought with M5's, since higher commands often viewed colored troops as 'inferior', they gave them inferior equipment too.
