In occasion of speed "T-80". :)

Why in NGP^85 speed Leopard-2 =18, and M1 Abrams =16, when real parameters identical (cruise range, speed) ?
Probably developers MC: NGP^85 considered a maneuverability of the tank which depends as well on its weight.

T-80 = 46t.
Leopard-2 = 55t.
M1 Abrams = 60 -63 - 69t.
Chieftain = 55t

As far as I know, speed is not used anywhere in the game engine. I'd love to hear otherwise from one of the designers, however.

I checked my oob and i do have the t-80 at 16 and the chieftain at 13(all other factors between the 2 r almost identical), the challenger 1 is only a 14. Im not sure what factors the dev use but i figure in speed both on/off road, range and maneuverability.

On the leopard 2 M1 comparison its not identical the leo is a tad quicker and has 100km longer range.

Not the same speed factor as above but the game as a whole is to slow. Its 477km from berlin to bonn a normal unit traveling at 45kph unopposed should make it in 11 hours(4 turns) and thats not even close to possible in the game with 3 hour turns. A war in Germany wouldnt have lasted 10 days, more towards the 6-7 day area if it was non nuclear. Game turns at worst should be 2 hours, but most likely should be 1 hour day 2 hour nights. It would have been short,sweet and deadly. Info i have seen the soviets planned to be at the Rhine in 3 days and atlantic in 7 but they also planned on losing all of GSFG,NGF,CGF and the east germans,czechs and most of the poles. Whole BDE would have been annihilated in 3 hours.

Actually, the real question is why is the Chieftan's speed so high. The T-80, M1 and Leopard 2 all should have comparable, if not identical, speeds. The Chieftan should have approximately 2/3 of their speed (about 10 instead of 18). But I am not sure it would really matter that much.

Looks like I am late on that one. You two already figured it out. ;)

I think a Sgt in the Soviet Army would have more to be worried about than just being fired. :kill:
