Strike of the Lehr - Toten Tanz vs. Rupert Turn 1

KG Muhler has proceeded South from Wolfskirchen and occupied Postroff. It has met no resistance, but has seen American reconnaissance units withdrawing to its front. American TDs were seen moving to the east of Kirrberg, some 5 KM to the South.

Detachments 1 and 2 of Pz.Auf. Lehr Abteilung 130 have taken up blocking positions to the East of the main N/S road from DornFessel. This will ensure the flank security for the Eastern Column, as it advances South.

Det. 1 has occupied Gungwiller, which gives it good observation into Drulingen to the East. The Acs of its recon units took direct fire from American TDs in Drulingen. No damage was suffered. Radio contact was lost, but was soon established with the unit. Several infantry units were also seen in the town. Det. 2 has taken up positions on the high ground to the East of Eywiller.

Fire missions have been called on Drulingen, and suspected enemy positions along the Panzer Lehr front.

General Beyerlein took a nip of the fine white Saar wine his ordonace fouraged from a nearby vinery and looked at the pile of new reports on his desk:
His men were dying like flies during the allied artillery barage,
a platoon of his precious Panthers was wiped out by the crossfire of the already mentioned M10s (at this point Beyerlein could not supress a feeling of admiration for his opponent, well done, chap, well done), more US troops showed up at his left flank and, worst of all, an artillery observer spotted a column of allied tanks moving towards Ischermuhl.
But there were good news, too.
The division's engineer battalion arrived just in time to fill some of the most serious gaps.
The general felt confident, that there still was enough spirit in his men to show those Yanks that the PanzerLehr Division was still alive and kicking!

First and Last Stand - Axis turn 5

The probing fingers of Hughen Tanken de Tote's Russian hand of fate hanging over the battlefield have been well and truley burnt and cut this turn, now he will have to come at us with the fist of vengeance, or scurry back from whence he came..... :kill:

Turn 8
General Von Clausewitz recalls the panzer reserve attack on the right flank, the dammed Ruskies are not taking the bait, but are attacking with all their strength into the town of Leuenberg. Things are really desperate here, it seems to be coming down to a war of attrition and that's a game the Panzer Division can't possibly win. The division which in reality is only a reinforced Panzer Regiment is slowly bleeding to death in the town. Again the promised reserves fail to arrive and we are begining to think they are just in the imagination of the high command.
The infernal rockets of the katushas rain down on our brave troops trying to defend every metre of ground, led in the centre ot town by Colonel Pleyer and Captain Bestmann. These two men deserve the fatherlands highest award for the bravery they have shown in the face of overwhelming odds.
The only good thing to report is that the jabos seem to have had to go home to refuel and re-arm and their artillery seem to have run out of smoke shells. However they seem to have all other kinds of ammuntion in abundance.
The 1000 year Reich seems to be crumbling before our eyes.

Strike of the Lehr - Toten Tanz vs. Rupert Turn 2

More American recon and combat units have been seen retreating to the south. American artillery fell in and around Postroff. KG Muhler suffered loses from this attack; most notably an entire HT AA section and an StuH 42 AG. Divisional artillery answered, causing light casualties on the US forces in Drulingen and Baerendorf.

The tanks of KG Muhler bypassed west of Baerendorf, heading south towards Kirrberg. The PzIIs of Det 3, of Pz.Auf. Lehr Abteilung 130 led the
way. This unit forded the small un-named river back to its east bank, with
the orders of moving to the high ground South of Baerendorf, thus cutting off the retreat of the American untis there. The AGs of the KG and escorting infantry deployed on the Southern outskirts of Prostroff.

KG Otsenberger is moving South along the eastern axis of advance towards
Eywiller.

American artillery landed randomly throughout the Division, causing no casualties. It was very uncoordinated, and even fell on US positions causing casualties.

Divisional artillery strikes fell on US forces, once again causing light casualties.

American troops South of Baerendorf have been engaged by direct fire artillery; suffering losses and becoming disrupted. They were then surrounded and assaulted by the PzIIs, of Det 3, of Pz.Auf. Lehr Abteilung 130 and captured. This has effectively cleared the high ground South of the town.

The tanks of KG Muhler have continued South, towards Kirrberg, with 1 and 2 Companies of the 1 Btl, 902 PzGdr Reg. in trail. A platoon of pioneers, from 10 Co, supported by 2 platoons of StuG/Hs advanced into Baerendorf to clear a visible minefeild. They came under ineffective rifle fire from American forces. Another platoon from 10 CO, mounted in HTs and support by a platoon of StuG III and Flamen HT, has been ordered to advance into the orchards on the high ground North of Hirschland, as enemy units have been seen infiltrating and taking up positions in that area.

KG Otsenberger continued through Eywiller and the lead elements crossed the improved bridge between Eywiller and Ischernuhl.

American light armor and ACs were seen retreating South of Baerendorf, along with command units. A large caliber HT mounted AA unit was seen retreating East into Hirschland. This could prove a problem for infantry and light armor. At this point it looked like the Americans had left 2 infantry platoons in Baerendorf, as a rear guard.

To the front of KG Otsenberger, truck born infantry was seen advancing North from Schalback.

More American artillery fell with no results along the Division front. It is becoming obvious that the American commander is firing unspotted artillery missions at Panzer Lehr.

Turn 9
It is with great sadness I have to report the loss of Colonel Pleyer, the brave Colonel went down fighting with many of his men to the Russian Colossus. This has been steadily fighting it's way into the center of town causing a terrible destruction in its wake. Stories are filtering through of what these backward peasants are up to in our town, it should make our men fight all the harder if these stories are true. Perhaps some of the the Red Army has overextended itself, whatever it is really a very grave situation facing Panzer Division Clausewitz. Units are hastily being moved from one position to another to try to plug the gaps in the lines. The talked of reserves would be very useful now, but still they fail to arrive, perhaps the units know what awaits them and are stalling for time somewhere.
Stern action is now required to hold the town and keep the enemy from breaking through, with this in mind General Clausewitz throws caution to the wind and moves towards the front in an effort to inspire the men to one final effort in repelling the reds.
