Allied final turn 7 of first & last stand against Ed.

Well, gentlemen one and all, that's that. I resign from this game. Ed can have the win. My troops cannot compete against massive casualties/disruptions/captures every turn (even whilst in built up areas and in smoke - truly horrific roles of the dice). A truly one sided affair as the Russkies never stood a chance.

Good luck in the next round Ed. :-)

Turn 6
On the outskirts of Leuenberg the battle rages, vicious hand to hand combat is taking place with every house fought over. Every inch of ground that the Russians take is at great cost in their manpower, but is also not without loss to our own division. Many of our old veterans and young boys will walk this earth no more, they have done their duty to the fatherland. Into town some JSII's have rumbled, belching out thick clouds of black diesel smoke, as if this is not enough, Russian artillery is firing smoke shells everywhere and you can hardly see your hand in front of your face. Then out of the smoke what appears to be the ghosts of men come into sight and the deadly MG 42's do their work cuttting down these ghosts before they can do harm to our soldiers or panzers.
In the suburbs these great lumbering beasts of Stalin tanks are not as effective as in open country and some easily fall victims to the many panzerfausts our brave grenadiers have at hand.
You have to admire these grenadiers as they lay coolly in wait for these beasts and when all seems lost, open fire at ranges of less than 30 yards. Many Iron crosses should be won today
It's become increasingly clear Leuenberg is the main objective of the Red Army, It seems everywhere else there is no activity at all. A trickle of reinforcements arrived, but will almost certainly be thrown into battle piecemeal
Mein Gott! we must stop them somehow.

Colonel Astashkin is nearly shedding a tear for the old and young Germans, thrown into action with not a shred of guilt by their Fuhrer.
But, just as quickly, he remembers the atrocities carried out in his motherland and swiftly sends the command out to all units,
'Take Leuenberg, without fail!'

Strike of the Lehr
Turn Five

Jabos filled the air and mortar rounds crashed all around. Fritz was still looking skyward when the first salvo from a M10 platoon hit. The platoon beside him turned and took cover.

"Mein Gott, where are they!"

The next salvo hit moments later, the Panther next to Fritz's was now on fire.

The M10 platoon disappeared behind the hill before Gunther could get off a shot.

Major Haenicke voice came over the radio, "Idiot! Why did you let them get away! Move out!

The Panthers rolled foward and soon a M3 GMC came into view. "Fire now, Gunther!" yelled Fritz. Before the heavily armed halftracks could get off a shot they were both in flames.

But where was the M10 platoon??????????

Turn 7
The desperate struggle for the outskirts of Leuenberg continues, masses of red soldiers and tanks are thrown into the battle here. No quarter is given or received by either side, this really is the most vicious of fighting. Will these masses prevail or can we somehow turn the tide.
The promised reinforcements have again failed to arrive so we must stand with what we have at present.
With this in mind General Clausewitz orders his panzer reserve to attack on the right flank with limited objectives set. How will these overconfident Russians react we shall see.

Strike of the Lehr
Turn Six

"Gunther! We have two M10s to the left!" yelled Fritz. Before the crew could traverse the turret, the M10s had fired. Luck was with the crew as the 76mm rounds missed their mark.

Just then another M10 platoon appeared from the right. This time the shells found the Panther. The shells bounced harmlessly off the Panthers thick armor. "Holy s#$#!!!" Fritz screamed as the tank shook from the direct hit.

Once again the Major's voice was coming over the radio. "Are you trying to get us killed! Why didn't you fire!"

About this time the M10s to the left exploded into fireballs...victims of another Panther company. "That's how it's done!" quipped the angry Major.
"Now let's go hunting!" The Panther lurched foward and soon after had dispatched some M8 armored cars.

Strike of the Lehr
Turn Seven.

A momentary lull in the action gives our boys time to catch up on the latest reports from the rest of the Lehr.

Baerendorf has been captured and Hirshland will likely fall soon. Ischermuhl is under pressure as well.

Rumors have General Bayerlein near the front lines. Will he join the attack with the lead tanks???????

Strike of the Lehr - Toten Tanz vs. Rupert

German Mission scope
The Panzer Lehr Division will move South on the Eastern side of the Sarre River. It will be divided into 2 columns. The Western Column will advance south from Sarre-Union. Its intent will be to attack along an axis running from Baerendorf to Rauwiller. Secondary objectives will be to secure the towns of Kirrberg and Hirschland.

The Eastern Column will advanced South from DornFessel. Its intent is to advance through Eywiller and Ischernuhl. From there, it's dual objectives will be to drive American forces out of the towns of Weyer and Druligen, and to protect the Western column from counter attack from the area around Schalback.

Once these missions have been accomplished, the Division, as a whole, will attempt to turn to the East and advance on Phalsbourg.
