Second Scenario for Newbie
Hello All:

Just played the Getting Started scenario in AotR twice. First a minor defeat, then a minor victory. In both playings a bunch of my units ended up Pinned near the victory hexes. How do you avoid that when you only have so many leaders?

Can anyone recommend a good second scenario in AotR to try?

Thanks,

Gerry

RE: Second Scenario for Newbie
Hi Gerry,

Welcome to the forums. There is no easy answer to your question about how to avoid being pinned, I can only offer generalizations. I myself have had trouble with a particular scenario from time to time.

Almost all scenarios need more then 2 playthroughs to master and you will have to try different tactics. I would recommend not bunching units up and keeping leaders close by to rally your squads. Look at your avenue of approach and see if your taking the best route. Is smoke available? If it is you should take advantage of it and don't forget your artillery to soften up your targets.

Anyways, hope that helps
John

Good advice up above, especially about the smoke. Going to the info menu, and selecting 'Command Report' displays anything unique about the scenario. Here are some threads that discuss tactics and styles of play that you might find helpful:

Thanks for your ideas and links. I am doing better now keeping leaders near the action. Funny how SB is somewhat similar to ASL (leaders need to be in the hex to rally units).

Looks like I have a lot of reading to do...
