MIKEY 69, POS 31 (Tac win for Mikey)
Mikey's panzer columns roll inexorably towards the Russian hilltop perimeter (circled) but were beaten by the clock..

Resting..
And recuperating..
I played it cautiously, maybe overly so...
I wasn't able to take advantage of the extremely successful Stuka attack a couple turns ago... Most of POS's tanks had a dead commander, so they would have been easy meat for my Panzers... But to get to them, I would have had to fast move through the hilltop defenses, and probably suffer a few dead tanks to the AT guns there... I concluded it wasn't worth the cost, and opted to have my tanks hunt from the woods to the hilltop...
All told, I only lost a single tank...
I'll be interested to see how my Tac Vic holds up...

POS 34,
ANDRE 66 (Tac win for Andre)
7 of my panzers advanced to the hill in the background and were butchered there (see earlier post #157), then on the last turn Andre sent this lone T-34 to seize the woods flag but I had a spare panzer in reserve to knock it out.
Although I ended up with 4 flags to Andre's 2, the price was far too heavy- a total of 11 wrecked panzers..

COMBAT FOOTAGE- The Hill
CMant's Russian squad in the hut takes on my whole panzer group and blows the tracks off one, I never even knew he was there til he was spotted slinging his fatal egg out the window.
As fighter pilots say about dogfighting- 'It's the one you don't see that gets you'..
Needless to say I should have had infantry up with the tanks to flush out any brown bunnies, but they're still coming up..
COMBAT FOOTAGE- The Hill
As my panzers form into line abreast formation for the final drive through the trees down to the Volga,
Mad Baron's Sturmovik entertains them with a fusillade of 4 rockets..
The missiles impact among the panzers but the German machines get off relatively lightly with nothing but one damaged gun..

My halftrack comes storming into town on only turn 3, its MG wickedly lashing
Mikey's newly-arrived Russians..
But the Russian flame guy refuses to be cowed despite the tracer whipping past his ears and calmly cooks the halftrack..
Quote:Mikey's halftrack comes storming into town on only turn 3, its MG wickedly lashing the newly-arrived Russians..
It was your Half-Track, POS.
At the end of this turn, your Stuka arrived, and a single bomb landed right on target, making mince meat of...
3 full squads,
1 plt HQ,
1 57mm ATG,
1 37mm AA,
1 Flame Team,
1 Maxim MG...
34 casualties all told...

"Sorry we haven't got a red carpet bub, will this do instead?" asks the Russian head of the reception committee as he gives
DasTiger's panzer a warm welcome..
