28 November, 1941: 10 boats were headed to the Mediterranean in November. The U-95, the sixth boat to attempt to run the strait, was sailing on the surface when the lookout spotted a dark shape. Unsure if it was a fellow German, a friendly Italian, or a British sub, Kptlt Schreiber flashed a recognition signal which galvanized the O-21, a Dutch sub in British service, into action. U-95 lost the ensuing torpedo duel and only Schreiber and 11 others were fished out of the dark waters. **NB: subs will remain on a fixed course until they spot each other.**
