Scenario Briefing: The Battle of White Mountain or Bila Hora - In 1618, the Bohemian Anti-Imperialists under Thurn had rebelled against the Catholic Hapsburg Ferdinand II. Despite initial successes at Pilsen, Lomnice and Wisternitz and a setback at Sablat, the rebels failed to secure the support of more moderate Anti-Imperialists, such as Christian IV of Denmark and Johann Georg of Saxony. By the third year of the revolt, the Catholics had raised two large armies - an Imperial Hapsburg army under Bucquoy and the Bavarian Catholic League under the experienced general Tilly - and were determined to crush the rebellion. Initially, the Anti-Imperialists thought that the Catholics planned to invade Moravia, but instead their objective was to take Prague and end the revolt at a single blow. By forced marching, the Anti-Imperialists managed to reach Bila Hora - or White Mountain - the last defensive position before Prague itself. It was a strong natural position, but there was little time to construct additional earthwork defenses before the Catholics arrived.
Recommended Rules: Default
Note: Best played as the Catholic (Imperialist) side against the Anti-Imperialist A/I or else Head-to-Head.
