19 August 1813 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - Napoleon put Ney over four infantry corps and a cavarly corps and named it the Army of the Bober. Two of those corps, V & XI Corps were ordered to press on to Löwenberg and cross the Bober River. Facing them were elements of the Army of Silesia under Blücher. The goal in this scenario as the French player is to hold the village and gain a crossing over the Bober river if possible.

Which ever side you play it's all down to tactics

The French have an advantage early on by being able to chose the ground to fight. They also have advantage in guns. If the French player stays on defense and doesn't attempt to go on the offensive they will retain the advantage. As Chosen Man said, it's all about tactics.

If the French player manages to rebuke the initial Russian assault, and to keep the river line in the south, then he might be able to crush the Prussians in the north. Otherwise, the Allied player will be able to reunite his forces and crush the French divisions in detail. In the end the key to victory for both players is to avoid local clashes if they are not sure to have a significant local advantage.

If the French player retires behind the Bobr and concentrate against the Russians, it becomes very hard for the Allied player to get even a draw.

It was a fun battle. The French did the unexpected on me which cost me the southern flank. Reinforcements take too long to get into the fight in the north. I waisted a lot of troops fighting until they got there, otherwise it would be VERY boring.
Excellent opponent!!!

Best strategy for the French player is to concentrate against the Russians on the west side of the river

I am new to the game so if I play it again, I would try a different tactic
