26 December 1806 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - This large map version of the battles gives the French player more latitude on where he will move his troops but allows the Russians some options as well. It begins hours before the start time (10:00 am) of the historical battles thus allowing for some pre-battle movement. The weather will effect movement so that once the players decide to move a formation in one direction that they will be committed to continuing along that route. Reacting to events rather than going with a plan will result in troops being caught in between the two "battlefields" and they will be unable to participate in either conflict. The French player, in particular, will have to wisely determine which direction to move his forces. DESIGNER NOTE: The troop locations at the beginning of the scenario are at best an approximation. Care was given to allow for the forces to arrive at the battlefield locations by the historical start times. Marching in the snow and mud was difficult at best. Artillery and wagons movement was awful with a lot of Russian artillery being abandoned during the retreat. Rather than try to stick to the historical movement rates for artillery and wagons they have been reduced in value to indicate the loss of guns and wagons along the march routes. The French and Russians had to use infantry to help move the guns. Both armies were worn out before the battles began. Note: Napoleon and his staff were not present at either battle. His leader unit and HQ are not in the scenario.
