Historical Overview: In the early morning hours of the 22nd of June 1941, German forces of Army Group Center crossed the border and headed for Smolensk. Scenario Overview: A good scenario for learning how to cross defended major river lines and how to defend them. To encircle Smolensk the Axis player will have to cross the Dvina to the north and the Dnepr to the south. The Soviet player must salvage whatever mechanised forces he can from the frontier battles and hold them as blocking force on the approaches to Smolensk. The Orsha land bridge, the Dvina river and the Dnepr river are key defensive positions that must be held for as long as possible.

In my opinion this scenario want editing and Victory points changing for a game called Smolensk there are 600 points well to the rear of Smolensk and impossible for the Axis player to reach in this 19 turn game. Therefore those 600points are a gift for the Russian Player.

This game seems unbalanced in favour of the Soviet player who gets points for many cities east of Smolensk. These cities appear to me to be out of reach of the Axis player, who has only 10 turns to complete the scenario.
I only voted "moderately pro USSR" because other loggers have reported wins as the Axis player. Perhaps I am too inexperienced to be able to play as the Axis effectively.
