Crossing the Dessna - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

The German Blitz had cost a lot of men and material and so OKH was forced to take some time to reequip.That was just enough time for the Soviets to stabilize their frontline in the direction of the coming German offensive.The Germans launched Operation Typhoon to extinguish the last Russian resistance and take Moscow. Still the German Divisions were in high spirit and well equipped, but time was running out as the mud period was dooming the outcome of Barbarossa. As the Soviets had calculated right Panzer Group 4 intended to move along the Rollbahn (highway) to Moscow which crosses the Dessna 50km east of Roslavl. Hundreds of voluteers had helped to strengthen natural obstacles into tank ditches, build bunkers and trenches. This was well known to the Gemans and so they tasked 258th Infantry Division, followed by two Tank Divisions to punch a small hole into this line 10km south of the highway to Moscow . Group von Arnim consisting of the reinforced Infantry Regiment 479 had to cross the Dessna south of Roshnaya and succed in taking the bridge across the Ssnopot intact.
