Tarashcha, 140km S of Kiev: [Best played against Human opponent] With the arrival of 1944, things did not look like they would be getting any better for the Germans on the Eastern Front. The defensive line along the Dnieper River had been breached and a deep salient had formed near Kanev. It did not take the Russians long to attack and soon the front had been pierced in the south, near Kirovograd. But catastrophes rarely came singly in Russia. From the north near Kiev, a second thrust spearheaded by the Soviet 6th Tank Army had broken through the thin German defenses on the western side of the salient and threatened to encircle the German Eighth Army. With no armor reserves to close the breach, only the German Infantry Divisions were left to face the Red armor. Near Tarashcha, the 248th Grenadier Regiment/88th Infantry Division, dug in and prepared to fling themselves against the advancing 21st Guards Tank Brigade. The Russians were only 60 miles from linking up and closing the trap on seven German divisions in the Korsun Pocket!

I think the V1.03 patch may have totally skewed the results towards the Germans. Allies couldn't hold even 2 objs. and had to retreat half way through.

Soviet armored brigade vrs a German infantry regiment with mobile ATGs support-a real classic engagement that could go either way. Tough fighting in the snow!

Not bad. Good mix of forces for both sides. Interesting LOS issues with the closed terrain.

A real slug-fest as the Ivans need to preserve their armor. Germans dug in deep and need to be pried out of their holes! A fun and entertaining scenario.

a winter setting - movement slowed - Germans had to decide to defend forward and get overrun - but will that buy time for later on for the remaining rear defenses ? Germans fell back after a rearguard effort - a costly event for some troops. Slugfest in the rear area major objectives zone.
