Intended for Axis or Soviet player.

Scenario Briefing: III Panzer Corps, having captured Gardony and exerting great pressure towards Oreg Hill and Hill 194, was reinforced with the fresh 6th Panzer Division whose initial task - the capture of Oreg Hill - was discarded due to the stubborn resistance of the Soviet defenders since the beginning of the battle. That objective (Oreg Hill) was entrusted to the depleted 44th Infantry Division which was unsuccessful in its endeavor. Then the newly arrived 6th Panzer Division headed for Gulyaakol and Csongrad while the 3rd Panzer Division headed for Zichyfalu and Hill 194, threatening to encircle the Soviets.
Due to the German advances Tolbukhin brought to the front the 31st Guards Rifle Corps together with the 1521st Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment of the 4th Guards Army, joining the troops previously transferred from that Army. Tolbukhin's 27th Reserve Army took responsibility for the sector between Lake Valence and the Danube with the 26th Army covering up to the Sarviz Canal.
A strong counterattack was executed towards Gardony to unbalance the Germans, accompanied by powerful armored clashes with the Soviets holding off the German momentum. No further German advances were achieved and Armeegruppe Balck on March 14 began to withdraw part of its armored forces as they knew the Vienna Offensive was imminent.

Designer Notes: Oreg Hill has a medium-value supply source for the Soviets, so isolating the hill and adjacent Soviet forces is more difficult than it sounds.

Recommended Rules: [Default] Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counterbattery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather, Limited Air Recon.
