Scenario Briefing: The I Cavalry Corps advanced 20 km from their starting positions and breached the Sio River at several places across the river. The objectives were the twin villages of Mezökomárom and Szabadhideg on the western and eastern banks of the river and the small settlement of Lajoskomárom (near Hill 188 as the highest point). While the Corps managed to secure the flank at Ádánd and resumed the advance, in the rear the Soviet 74th Rifle Division was entrenched in the town of Enying which was initially bypassed by the Axis forces, but orders were given to liquidate this thorn in their side. Time was running against the Axis, mud was everywhere, casualties were mounting and Soviet tank formations arrived to counter any advance, giving the Soviets a clear advantage in armored numbers.
