El Guettar, March 29th 1943: The US 1st AD had been held up at the Maknassy Pass, and now US II Corps was directed to open a route through the Axis defenses to release US 1st AD down Highway 15 toward Gabes. This would threaten to split the Axis armies and, with luck, trap the Mareth defenders from behind. Patton was given US 9th ID, which was to be used in tandem with US 1st ID, to punch the hole for Task Force Benson of US 1st AD to use Highway 15. The 9th ID was green. Pattons' orders basically ignored the high ground and the 2 IDs were told to go "Hell for Leather" on each side of the highway. [Size, medium]. Designer Note: This scenario has been optimized for HTH play.

More difficult than it looks for the Allies. Germans do not give up entrenched positions easily. I attacked on too broad a front without enough consideration to terrain once I broke initial defenses.

Delicately balanced scenario that pits Axis superior morale (A, B), but numerically fewer units against inferior morale (D) and numerically superior Allied troops. Between equal skilled players, either side may win! A tense and nail-biting scenario that will ebb and flow as Allied units slog through rough terrain to engage entrenched German and Italian defenders and Axis reinforcements release piece meal into the battle! A recommended Tunisia '43 scenario!

Allied side has a lot of muscle but the terrain obstructs any maneuvers and they must choose well their objectives.
Axis side will resist if they sacrifice some of the wing objectives.
