Hill 253.6, East of Verkhopen'ye: July 9th, 1943. (Scenario Size: Battalion. German Human vs Soviet AI or Head to Head) Großdeutschland's push to the north was launched three hours late at 7am. The Division's aufklarung (reconnaissance) and STuG (assault gun) battalions were tasked with clearing both Hills 253.6 & 242.7. 11th Panzer Division had bypassed these heights as it advanced northward, but the entrenched Soviets were now firing into the flanks of the advancing German's. It was imperative that the Aufklarung Kampfgruppe clear the twin hills as quickly as possible.
