Jagodnja Mountain, Serbia, 8th September 1914:
When Potiorek gathered his forces for the second invasion of Serbia, the fresh Austro-Hungarian 6.Armee concentrated on the middle Drina in a bend formed by the Jagodnja Mountain. Potiorek's intent was for 6.Armee to launch a full scale attack in an area that he knew was sparsely defended, essentially on the extreme left flank of Serbian Macva position that was further north.
However, there was a reason why the area was lightly occupied: the Jagodnja Mountain was a superior position that would be extremely difficult for an attacker to overcome. Potiorek intended to take the peaks of the mountain range, and then bypass the bulk of the Serbian Army while they were held in place by 5.Armee, and advance into the rear to seize Valjevo from the south.
