"After the second Diadochoi war ended in 315 BC, the aged Antigonos' growing power alarmed the other Successors resulting in a coalition of Ptolemy (ruler of wealthy Egypt), Kassandros (ruler of Makedon), Lysimachos (ruler of Thrace) and Seleukos, who was consolidating his power in the Eastern Satrapies of the former Persian empire. With military support from Kassandros, Lysimachos invaded Asia Minor in 302 BC and Antigonos marched against him with a large army. Then, learning that Seleukos was marching to assist Lysimachos, Antigonos recalled his son Demetrios from his campaigning in Greece against Kassandros. The opposing armies - except Ptolemy, who was still in Syria - would meet on the decisive battle at Ipsos in Phrygia. Antigonos had some 70,000 infantry, 10,000 cavalry and 75 elephants, while his enemies had 64,000 infantry, 10,500 cavalry, and perhaps as many as 480 elephants and 120 scythed chariots. (Diodorus and Plutarch give slightly different numbers)"
