Zoblamouche vs. Colonel Slack-Goodspeed

Zoblamouche
I forfeited the game at turn 11 of 15. My view of victory is not based on the score. I find it to be an arbitrary mark established by the scenario designer to make the scenario competitive rather than actual mission objective. It just games the system rather than be a realistic representation of the spirit of the battle. By turn 11, the score was 5000 which represents a draw. The losses were 328 SP for the Axis vs 248 for the allies. Although they seemingly represent a favorable outcome for the Allies, I consider these numbers meaningless. Although I gained the objectives in the East my opponent was well along towards conquering the ones in the West. My defenses there were crumbling and I didn’t have sufficient backups to resist. I thought I might conduct an orderly retreat of the few troops I had left in the sector to protect the objectives, but I came to realize that my opponent had way too many troops and artillery attacking. It was a foregone conclusion that I couldn’t hold on to these objectives. Granted, from a gaming perspective, I might have inflicted sufficient casualties to render his victory somewhat pyrrhic and still maintain a draw, but the reality is that he would have succeeded in securing the objectives. The objectives in the center were holding on and although battered, I think I could have held on to them for the remaining four turns. But again, if the scenario would be say 20 turns, I have no doubt that my opponent had sufficient strength to take these objectives as well. This is how I view a true victory or loss situation.
