Shenandoah: OOB/Command question
Campaign Shenandoah: scenario #150 (3rd Winchester).

The Union 6th Corps doesn't appear to have a commander.  Its historical commander, Wright, is on the the map, but the scenario has him in the role of 2nd-in-command to the Army of the Shenandoah.  With Sheridan also being present, Wright seems superfluous.  As a 2nd-in-command, he doesn't even have a command radius.

Is this a mistake?  Or is the 6th Corps not supposed to have a commander for this scenario?

What makes it even more confusing is that the 6th Corps' 1st and 3rd divisions and its corps artillery commanders are all shown as being "in command."   Meanwhile, its 2nd division is "detached."  Who is exerting command over the 1st and 3rd divisions/corps artillery if it's not Wright?

If this is a mistake then is there a way to get Wright into his corps commander role by editing the OOB pdt file?

RE: Shenandoah: OOB/Command question
Assuming that 6th Corps was not supposed to have a commander for this scenario, game works in such way that 6th Corps divisions commanders are assigned directly to Army commander (in this case Sheridan). To have them 'in command' they must be within Corps command range from Sheridan ie. 12 hexes.

For more info see. p. 48 of the User Manual.

Thanks for the reply and the explanation.  You are correct that Sheridan will function as an ersatz corps commander due to the 6th Corps commander being absent.  (When I moved him within 12 hexes of the "detached" 2nd division it became "in command" the next turn.)

I do suspect this is a mistake as to the OOB.  Wright's placement on the map and where he's located (smack dab within the area of the 6th Corps) seem to indicate that he's supposed to be in his role as corps commander for this scenario.  However, it's good to know that I can use Sheridan to keep the 6th Corps in command.  Still, it'd be preferable for Wright to do that job since he's on the map!
