I agree with you as well Embis.  Steel Panthers is an amazing platform for recreating tactical situations from 1930 to the present day and does it well.  I also agree that Shrapnel Games version is much superior to Matrix.  They come out with an update for both games (SPWW2 & SPMBT) every year.  

As a long time Squad Leader/ASL fan, this game has always kept my interest and always has a place on my hard drive.
