Building bridges

Can you build a bridge over a damaged one? Using a bridging engineer of course. I just wasn't sure if you could do that or had to put your bridge somewhere else. Thanks.

A pontoon bridge can't be built on top of a damaged full hex bridge, but I haven't tried if that means it also can't diagonally cross the water hex the damaged full hex bridge covers.

Regular hexside bridges can be built across the same hexside a damaged hexside bridge is placed on without limitation.
