Looking for a North African strategic game

Looking for a North African strategic game
I wondered if anyone knew of a strategic (as opposed to operational) PC game which covered the North African theatre?

I've look at the JTS game, but it wasn't to my fancy. I already own Matrix's Desert War, but that's set at an operational level. Is there something else I'm missing?

I'm seriously beginning to think I'll have to go back to an online version of the ZX Spectrum's Desert Rats, which was the game that got me into wargaming in the first place (and was released in 1985!)

Not sure if you are aware of it however, JTS has 4 titles covering Desert Warfare.

The three from the PzC series are

Tobruk '41 Gold

El Alamein '42 Gold

Tunisia '43 Gold

The fourth title is from the PzB Series, which was released less than 1 year ago.

Battles of North Africa 1941

Thanks Compass, I have looked at John's work. However, I got the impression it was closer to an operational scale? Company level, as opposed to say brigade or division? I'll have a closer look.
Cheers

Panzer Battles are Cos that breakdown into Plts and back up to Cos. and cover a specific battle area.

Panzer Campaigns are Bns that breakdown into Cos. and back up to Bns and cover a much larger battle area.

War on the Southern Front are strength points and covers an even larger area. Not as much detail. It is at least worth checking out. May be some youtube videos as well. Probably closest to what you are looking for here.

Thanks Josey, I'll take a look.

It surprises me that, although there are many games that cover or include the North African campaign, not many adopt a strategic approach. Perhaps the scope is too small? That said, I am enjoying Matrix's Desert War, although it does allow mega-stacks which I'm not overly keen on (plus it gets down to company level).

Hmmm...what is it with the prices of HPS games? Smolensk '41 was released in 1999 and it costs US$39.95? Ouch....

If anybody does have 'War on the Southern Front', I'd love to know if you can zoom in? The youtube video I came across was showing very very small unit sizes, so I hoped you could zoom in on the map?
