My old HPS have hit the dust bin, and I gladly spent the money supporting the Gold version.

No reason not to run both if you already have the old HPS one.... 

But I dont know why one would want to get the original version from HPS....especially as many of the titles on the HPS site have been marked up by an extra $10 compared to the Tiller store!!

I have a request in with JTS to upgrade my HPS titles to Gold.  I plan to run both HPS and JTS Gold.
