For vehicles and guns, each strength point represents one such thing, like a lost tank for instance.

For infantry, one strength point represent a half squad.

How does one extend the turns on their random game? Or can that not be done?

You can modify the scenario length with Scenario Editor. There might be a scenario length data in the saved battle file as well, but from the top of my head I can't recall where. It is in minutes IIRC, and not in turns, so you'd need to take care of that conversion too.

In the above, this is 96, 16 turns, 96 divided by 6. You can do this in Notepad, as long as the number is divisible by 6, for 6 minutes. Gets trickier with scenario's having the later visibility settings though, would need to alter them as well!!
