Trouble installing M 44
I am in Win 7
If I follow the instructions and install into Programs/HPS/Minsk I can't update.
If I install into a folder I create; M44 I am able to open the game and update but then I often can't read battle files sent PBEM
I cannot download 0623_01c: The Destruction of Army Group Center - no Fixed Units_Alt rebalanced by Michael Smith and play by email although I can read it for a head to head game
I cannot download 0623_02: The Battle for Byelorussia - [HTH]_Alt successfully at all although the map files work.

Every time I try to install I get first this message: String ISDX_ERR_INTERNAL was not found in string table I click OK
then this message: Error ISDX_ERR_INTERNAL
I click Ok, can read the game but not without the above problems

I have never had this problem with any other game.
Please help jonny

RE: Trouble installing M 44
I am no tech expert however, I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express a few times! Big Laugh

Less than a year ago, I made the switch from XP to Win7.

In doing my "homework", I was advised to not load any games into the Programs Files and Programs Files (X86). I was told that it was best to create a John Tiller Software folder and a HPS folder and load the games into those folders instead.

Are you unzipping to the correct folder?

Also are you using the correct download; JTS updates for JTS titles only and HPS updates for HPS titles only?

RE: Trouble installing M 44
I think the error message "String ISDX_ERR_INTERNAL" & "Error ISDX_ERR_INTERNAL" is just the usual error you get on the old HPS games when it tries to install directX, usually that isn't necessary anymore so you can forget about that, so I doubt that this is any problem.

Question is what problem comes up with the battles files, is there any error message?
And if you can't download something I doubt that the game is the problem.

If you got another partition try to install the game there, after that start the patch and let it extract to another folder and copy the content of that folder over into the games folder, usually at that point Windows Explorer(or whatever file manager you use) should ask/inform you that files are about to be overwritten, confirm that, if you were not asked/informed you copied it into the wrong place.
If it worked you should try to manually start the game by starting the EXE file to make sure no old/wrong links on the start menu interfere.
Following this procedure will make sure you are up-to-date and run the updated version of the game, and then we can see if the other problems are still there.
