Scourge of War: Gettysburg
I just stumbled upon this game and boy am I impressed. Unlike most games, where you have god eye mode, in 'historical' setting you are a commander of a brigade/div/corps and all you can see is what you can see from horse back. To get your units moving and such you have to compose dispatches and send them off (you see the rider ride off) and hope they get there. Meanwhile other dispatches come in with information like enemy spotted etc. I have only played the demo so far, but I am close to putting down the $ for it; anyone else have/play it?

Well after playing it for several hours I was bored stiff. Much time standing around doing nothing except watching the bad graphics; floating horses, artillery moving around with no horses, and barely audible sound. Disappointed. Times were too numerous where the enemy, or my soldiers, just moved right through the enemy lines without a shot being fired.

I'm honestly not a fan of the system or the game. I played the demo for scourge and also played their earlier game TC 2nd Manassas.

The demo turned me off too.

RE: Scourge of War: Gettysburg
Well but real time commanding on a real battlefield takes it's time.
I know the 3d graphic isn't good but it isn't bad either.
Not sure what problem you have with sound, seems to run OK.
What the real problem is in my eyes is the scale, I think the map scale is 1:3 while the unit scale is 1:4, that gives a distorted impression of the battlefield an so it's no wonder you see units moving into each other or other strange looking things as modeling it realistic(soldiers jump over a fence) would not really work with the pace the units have
They do a Napoleon version now but it looks like the representation is again.

RE: Scourge of War: Gettysburg
My problems were as stated above: floating horses, cannons moving on their own, units walking through enemy units to just name a few. The graphics I can live with, it is a dated game, and I like the commander view option, only seeing what is around you as brigade commander, but too many flaws that are not graphic related for me.
