France '14 Allied Opponent needed(CLOSED)
I'm searching for an experienced Allied player for the scenario "1914_0818_01s: Driving the Wedge" playing it with default rules. No gamey tactics.
Post here or PM me.

Duke,
I do not have time to add a game now, but I am interested what you consider gamey in the WWI games.
thanks

RE: France '14 Allied Opponent needed
From the manual:
"Opportunity Fire is vulnerable to certain game tactics such as "dancing". Dancing involves moving attacking units back and forth in front of a defensive position in the hopes of drawing off the Opportunity fire of the defenders thereby making it possible for weaker units to move up and even beyond the defensive position without being vulnerable to Opportunity Fire."
While this may not be a problem in the Napi and Civil War series as there are no actions points used, it is a bug problem in this series as this opportunity fire is already only done at 50%, if now someone "sucks up" this opportunity fire by "dancing" it gets very unbalanced.

I would switch to Manual Defensive Fire but as this is not a default rule and so the scenarios are not tested with it I currently don't want to use it.

RE: France '14 Allied Opponent needed
Well, I would say that the only time that would be an issue is if someone was moving a unit back and forth between the same two hexes on a hill (or whatever), just to get field guns to fire at them. But any criticism to an opponent beyond that obvious behavior is just too nit picky I think. Just saying.

That said, I have never seen anyone actually do this in a game, so you really don't need to mention it at all (at least in my experience). But of course you never know if you play someone new... ;)

Duke, I'll take the Entente command. You remember our WWI Race to the Sea game off TOAW III some three years ago? Then it's me and no gamy tactics should be pursued. The scenario's been on my priority list anyway and am going to have over two weeks off no so ... Fire away, default rules are fine with me, I use them as a rule of thumb myself.
