Correct Game Versions for EF2 and WF

Hi:
I was an active CS player from 1997 to 2006. Work and life got in the way and trying to work my way back into it. I just purchased the Matrix game version for the CS and looking to get all my versions updated. I tried running the updater in the game, but didn't seem to get it to run successfully. What is the correct version that players use and any advice to get it updated properly? I have Windows 7 Professional on one machine, and Windows 7 Home on another.
