New Scenarios for JTCS

New Scenarios for JTCS
Hello All. Most of you have seen my posts on the Matrix Game JTCS forums stating that I will begin working on converting the scenarios found in Avalanche Press' 'Panzergrenadier' game system. I just unearthed the box that was buried in one of our closets. I packed it away because I could never find anyone interested in playing a conventional board war-game. After considering the game again, I decided to convert the scenarios for all of you to enjoy. I will NOT be converting these scenarios verbatim (not even the titles of each scenario) as I really don't want to be sued by AP. I will be getting the JTCS game early next month and I will begin working on the conversions shortly thereafter. What type of scenarios (theater, size, etc) would you like to see most? Chris.

Overlord, mid size.

RE: New Scenarios for JTCS
The only title dealing with Normandy is the one with the Brits. I don't know why AP didn't do more with the Normandy invasion but I guess they had their priorities. Their newest title, Saipan, was released not too long ago. I don't have that title yet and probably won't for a while. One other title that I hope to have soon is Kursk: South Front but I've been waiting for that game for almost four years now.

RE: New Scenarios for JTCS
To Ashcloud,

(the first time I am on this forum; see how it works)
Long time ago I made an "Overlord" scenario (a huge one; from UTAH to SWORD and from landings till EPSOM, about 1200 turns). I have uploaded it to 'The Wargamer's games depot, but it seems not be downloadable anymore I'm afraid. At that time my developer-skill's were less than today.

At the very moment I am constructing a 'total-Normandy' scenario. Map and OOB are 'finished' (if you could ever tell so). I am trying to find out the weather conditions from June 6th til August 24th in order to get variable visibility, variable ground conditions and variable supply conditions. If that is finished, I will set down and put the over 36000 units away in the scenario-editor. This will take a while.

If you are interested (in the mean time) in the old dated OVERLORD scenario, please let me know. (If many others are interested, I think I will upload it to the scenario list) But again, it is outdated just as my "Hell's Highway" and "Hollow Victory" scenario's and should not be played any more IMO.

If you want to have an impression on how those variable conditions mentioned above are working, you might consider to download the WestFront scenario's "NL40 Oost" and "Herbstnebel" and/or the EastFront scenario's "Uranus" and "Koltso" from the scenario list.

Greetings,

O, yes there is; the larger the scenario the more my respect.
I have ever loved HUGE scenario's in my previous boardgame life, such as SPI's "Campaign for North Africa", or a table full with stacks of Squad Leader counters.

It matters not to me how large the scenario is. Being in scale is 6 minute turns and 250 meter hexes.
If you want to do D-Day and keep it to scale that is fine by me. Pretending or stretching the scale to cover days or weeks is not.

It makes no difference what games you have played that you made large. Just stay in the scale of the campaign series. Whistle

I think people should be able to create and post whatever sized scenario they wish. Testing the limits of the game system and thinking outside the box should not be discouraged. It is your choice whether you want to play a particular scenario or not, but I applaud the efforts of anyone who is contributing to this great game.

If this is in response to my comments, you are mislead. I could care less how large a scenario is as long as it conforms to 6 minute turns and 250 meter hexes.
It's not the testing the limits of the game system that I mind. It is the breaking of the scale limits that I can not tolerate.

And, yes, I'll play what scenarios I wish to play. Thank you. Farmer

RE: New Scenarios for JTCS
250 meter hexes I agree! (if it were only for weapon ranges). Platoons: of course!

But:
6 minute turns depends on the length of a scenario. For short scenario's, lets say 30 - 40 turns (that is 3 to 4 hours), 6-minute turns are defendable. For longer scenario's, it is far from reality to expect platoons running around 'on the double' or even with speed mars for hours and hours and hours and....(etc.). Also in night turns, that happen to occur in longer scenario's (we are dealing with JT CAMPAIGN Series aren't we?), you can't expect platoons to run around continuously with a speed of about 8 km/h (alternating 'normal' and 'increased speed turns' of 3 and 4 hexes respectively in 'clear' terrain under 'normal' weather conditions (non-wet, non-mud, non snow).

By the way, Ed, let us agree to disagree. As long as I see that there might be anyone interested in why and how I deviate from the pre-set rules of the game-system, I will do that and are open to any critic and suggestions as long as it is not 'because they are not conform the book'.
