Counter graphics

I have not played awhile but after loading the latest patch I notice that there is now a gray and white or just gray bar at the bottom of the unit counter. I have looked at the latest manual but was unable to find anything about this. What is it for?

It is probably just me but I have found in the past that the manual is not very much help. Probably too much information arrainged in a format I don't understand.

Never mind, I found the answer. It is a preference setting. Some how my preferences got changed without my knowing it.

Thanks for the update - I was trying to dig into it but hadn't resolved anything, so your post is very helpful in trying to learn the game better, especially re some of the graphics that can be set.
