Russian-Guards vs. Russian Units

Well, I was referring to Guards units in WW2. In post WW2 AFAIK the Guards status on Soviet divisions was nothing more than a name, but they often did get the newer equipment first. Whether or not they were of better quality is up to debate, but I think the general consensus is no, they were not.

I just wanted to clarify that my original post was about WW2 Soviet Guards units. No doubt there is confusion in the thread if we are talking about two different time periods. ;)
