Lighting up a MBT
Found this video showing what happens to a modern day Main Battle Tank when hit by a ATGM (Anti Tank Guided Missile). I always thought tanks were one of the safest places to be on battlefield.

MBT GO BYE BYE

RE: Lighting up a MBT
Pretty sure tank was loaded with explosives for effect, either that or ammo protection was poor it cooked off. This is why its best to be in a Western yank rather than a Russian one.

If you have time on your hands try You Tube 1000s to choose from including one tank hit that blows the turret a good 30 feet into the air.

Heres a couple
ATGMs the other view point

RE: Lighting up a MBT
I have been told by a tank commander friend at another web site that the explosive looking explosion is because it is the ammo that was stored in the turret and thats why western armies have gone back to ammo stored in the hull not turret.

RE: Lighting up a MBT
Was that shot on a test range? It also must have been a R/C target. I can't imagine a real crew not using terrain movement nor being alone. It isn't so much a demonstration of what happens when an ATGM hits, but a demonstration of what cruising around fat dumb and happy will get you.
No overwatch, no terrain movement = K-kill.
I wish my opponents would all do that.
