Command

Command
Hey I am playing a small Stalingrad scenario (Hell for Leather). I typically end up with 13 of 20 HQ's out of command. If I remember right (I have been gone from PzC for some time) the factors for bein in command are Morale quality, supply level, and for subordinates bein in command themselves. So what can I really do to facilitate a higher command rate. My supply rate isnt that bad I dont think at close to 70. I cant do much about my quality rating, but do I need to keep the army HQ's closer to the front? I have moved 57th but 64th cant crosss the river in this scenario (Do I need to re-read the Engineer section about river crossings?) Just wishing I had more Divisional and Brigade HQ's in command cuz I think this would help the disrupted units reorganize faster.

RE: Command
highlight the HQ at the top and press the H Key (or View \ Shade => Command range. This highlights teh 50% range for the command check of an HQ - working down the chain, put all the next level down HQs in this 50% or as close to this 50% circle as possible.

NOTE higher level HQ might have such a big circle they are hard to see on tme map.

As you work you way down the chain try and put all teh HQs subordinate to the next HQ up the chain in teh 50% range circle - closer is better and being outside the circle is OK too - but pick places for your HQs that keep these ranges in mind.

I sense I haven't done a great job of explaining this but use this hight HQ and the H hotkey to see where an HQ can reach with its command.

RE: Command
Thanks Glenn. I read the command section of the rules again and it made more sense. Both of my Army HQ's were out of command. That hurt my chances with my subordinates but with a supply lever of 65% to 70% in all areas its dang odd that only 40% of HQ's were in command. Sigh. Just my luck. This turn it was much better with 70% of HQ's in command.

RE: Command
Ya - once a higher level HQ is out of command - the chain is broken - so keep them in command at all cost.
