Rule Clarification
Of charging melee results, the user manual says that one condition of a melee getting the charge bonus is that:

User Manual Wrote:The defending units must not consist entirely of Infantry in Square formation with Leaders and/or Cavalry. However, if only Skirmishers, Artillery, and Supply Wagons occupy the defending hex with Infantry in Square, then the charge is negated.

I find this sentence fairly confusing, even though I already know what it means. Is it just me?

I suggest an alternative statement of the condition:

Suggested Language Wrote:There must not be any cavalry or any infantry in either line or column formation in the defending hex.

Any thoughts?

I'm assuming this is for the Napoleonic manual? I can look at it and see if it can be tweaked.

Yes, I realized after I posted it that it went on the general BP/CS forum.

So to confirm: I have understood the rule, right?

RE: Rule Clarification
For me is more easy say "if you dont have enemy in square in the hex you have the charge bonus" square prevents the bonus.

Aha, but you see, you have missed something: There can be an infantry unit in square formation and also another infantry unit in line or column formation. In this situation, the cavalry would get the charge bonus.

That is why I am trying to clarify/simplify the rule. You thought you understood it, but perhaps not.
