SPANISH CIVIL WAR 1936-1939

Introduction and Overview
With Europe beginning to smoulder after the rise to power of fascists Hitler & Mussolini, tensions quickly came to a boil in the Spanish peninsula between the Republican and Nationalist forces.

From July 1936 to April 1939 war would ravage the country and several hundred thousands would lose their lives.

For several countries this would be a dress rehearsal for the coming conflict of WWII, and for the world it would be a small taste of the horrors to come.

The wargame
Squad Battles: Spanish Civil War gives you the opportunity to command the forces involved fighting in the streets of Madrid and the countryside of Alto de Leon or Somosierra Pass.

The gamer is presented with a wide spectrum of battlefields and of different troop organizations, from the early columns to the later armies.

WAR OVER THE MID EAST

War over the Mid East is the 2nd title in the Modern Air Power series of real-time operational air games by John Tiller.

Introduction and Overview
Since ancient times the Middle East has witnessed continuous clashes between religions, cultures, and nations. Israel's emergence in 1948 attracted refugees from the world over but also generated much resentment.

For the next sixty years conflicts would rage with Israel at the centre. 1956, 1967 & 1973 would be years of major conflict and are all covered in this title.

Actions in Lebanon (1982) and various strikes in 1985, 2006 & 2007 are also covered.

The violent Mideast chariot clashes continue thousands of years after the Biblical era, but modern chariots now flash across the sky trailing fire and raining down thunder and lightning on the enemy below.

The wargame
War Over the Mideast (WOM) features a new interface which differs from what was released with its predecessor, War Over Vietnam. This was the result of extensive testing and feedback from the Air Force’s Squadron Officer College, Air and Space Basic Course. It’s designed to enhance control of the simulation and make for easier access to information.

You will benefit from these enhancements as you command your air force over small segments of the Mideast or over the entire central & eastern Mediterranean air space.

Features and Scenarios
30 Scenarios are included covering engagements such as Operation Kadesh in 1956, to Operation Moked in the 1967’s Six Day War and the 1973 Mansourah Air Battle.

Scenarios range in size from small raids such as the 1981 Operation Opera - Iraq Nuclear Reactor Strike to huge battles such as Purple Line - Crisis in the Golan Heights.

Among the scenarios:
Operation Kadesh in 1956
Destruction of an Air Force
Suez Canal Crisis
Operation Hamilcal / Musketeer
Operation Telescope (Port Said)
Operation Moked (1967)
Pursuit through the Sinai (7 June 1967)
Soviet Mig Ambush (1970)
Operation Badr (1973)
Purple Line - Crisis in the Golan Heights (1973)
Mansourah Air Battle (1973)
Operation Opera - Iraq Nuclear Reactor Strike (1981)
Operation Peace for Galilee (1982)
Bekaa Valley Air Battle (1982)
Beyrouth 1983 - UN Multinational Force Peacekeeping Operations
Operation Wooden Leg - Strike on PLO Heaquarters in Tunisia
Campaign Against Hezbollah in Lebanon
Operation Orchard - Strike on Syrian Facility (2007)
etc

WOM includes a wide array of scenarios allowing you to fly missions against fortified bases, or to fight an enemy air force for air superiority.

You will command aircraft from fixed-wing prop driven Mustangs to Fourth Generation F-15's and F-16's with a wide array of armaments (F-51D Mustang, Harvard, Hunter, Meteor, Vautour, Ouragan, Mystere, Super Mystere, F-4E Kurnass, Kfir, Mirage III, Nesher, F-15s, F-16s, helicopters etc)

On the Arab side of the conflict you will have a choice between Fury, Mig-15 Fagot, MiG-17 Fresco, MiG-19 Farmer, Venom, Meteor, MiG-21 Fishbed, MiG-23 Flogger, MiG-25 Foxbat, MiG-29+ Fulcrum, Su-27+ Flanker.

As is the hallmark of all John Tiller games, WOM brings new engine changes to the series which enhance the time period being portrayed, and as always, all new features will be rolled out for free to the previous titles in the series. The changes to this engine from the 1.0 version of WOV are too numerous to list, but some of them are:

- Added new Rules-of-Engagement feature.

- Added Time-On-Target, Hold, Recon and other mission specific orders to enable the player to have greater control of their aircraft.

- Added multiple levels of detail to airbases to better reflect the type of damage taken and the ability of the airbase to continue various operation types.

- Added command nodes and effect reflection of those nodes on child entities.

- Added support for Satellites in the database and during game play.

- Added new rules to force recon by players for entities such as SAM, Radar, Command Node sites and carriers and submarines.

The game also has the standard scenario, OOB, parameter, & air tasking order (apato) editors included.

War Over the Mideast provides multiple play options including

Play against the computer AI

Play by LAN

Internet play.
