T-80 TIS
I hope someone can help answer this. In NGP and D85, the T-80 has Thermal Imaging Sight (TIS) capability. However, in a discussion I had with another gamer they said this was incorrect and that the T-80UM - the first version with the Buran TIS - was not out there until 1992.

Now I can assume either that TIS capability was assigned because what the T-80 had in 1985 - even if it wasn't the Buran TIS - was good enough to make the T-80 TIS for game purposes. OR, is this potentially a mistake?

Thoughts appreciated!

I'll check but in a few quick checks I see the T-80UM did come when you say with its new Buran Thermal Imaging sight, but that was in place of an old Luna IR system.

The question may be then, did the designer consider the Luna IR system enough to assign TIS status to the T-80UM?

RE: T-80 TIS
I don't think the Luna IR was much different than the IR system on the T-72(?).

RE: T-80 TIS
Yes, I've brought this very point up twice, having working on the Apache's and M1's FLIR system back in 1988/89 as a thin-film engineer. The Russians didn't have anything approaching our NVG back in the 1980s.

No one at HPS or on this board could answer how it was that the T-80 was given this attribute in the game. Pure, unadulterated fantasy to given them TI.

On the bright side, apart from the odd regiment here and there, there aren't too many T80's around.

RE: T-80 TIS
T-80 had no TIS on it in 1985 or even 1989, as was mentioned above it wasnt till 1992-1993. I think HPS did it for game reasons but the good news is HPS lets us change all this. cheers

RE: T-80 TIS
I think it should be standardized in a patch.
