Strategy Options in DF 85
Just got DF 85 -- wow! What a work of art!! Now if only I can find time to play...

Anyways, to the point of my posting. I'm looking at all the strategy options and trying to understand each one, and how they might work in concert. (I am talking of the full size Germany campaign). Has anyone made any write-up of what is there? Otherwise, I guess I should just open the game in the editor and see where all the placements are located....

Also, for the Soviet naval raiders that are commited on turn 1, why would I ever choose "Raid Copenhagen (0 reinforcements)"? Does this somehow prevent Nato reiforcement or something?

Cheers,
Fury

Fury - see the Historical Folder -0 there is a PDF of the WP Ops Order - this will lay it out for you in releastic type terms.

....and this is what I was talking about when there was a discussion about more S|O in games. I mean I love this feature but I also find it a bit confusing too - and too many at once hurts my head.:)

But serious - each of these S|Os has their own AI Orders too so understand there are tricky for the designers too.

What we tried to do in this game was not have them ALL on the first turn to try and limit the info overload on the players.

Also NOTE the S part of the S|O is in advance of the event - that is you have to pick some Airborne Drop ZONES a couple turns before the troops arrive. Again this is a bit more realistic but also makes it harder for players to keep track of.

WP STRATEGY OPERATIONS:
*NOTE: some missions have ‘off map’ or ‘scrubbed’ as a choice; this is for playing against the AI, to represent the fact that many of these units had possible operations outside of the game area or the possibility that weather, enemy airpower, etc. cancelled an operation. These add some variability to the game.

This is a surprise. All of these units show up as "Not Present" in the strength table. Does this mean that units which arrive via theater options are not indicated in the strength table?

Is there any other way units can fail to show up in the strength table?

RE: Strategy Options in DF 85
As you suggest, units in the strategy choices don't show up in the Strength/OOB listing. However, once the choice comes up and you make the choice, they will be added at that point, and show up normally, UNLESS the choice is one of the "no mission" choices, in which case since they still aren't present they will not show.

RE: Strategy Options in DF 85
As Rick say. So try picking some options and then go look under the strength menu and you will find the units you are looking for.
