New NGP graphics - wait for opinions

RE: New NGP graphics - wait for opinions
It is better to not do separate.

But explain me please, why? And what do you propose instead?
In my opinion it doesn't look interesting if whole army is represented by only one figure.
In my set of icons some armies have separate figures even for a different types of infantry (e.g. West Germans: panzerjaegers, jaegers, heimatschutz, sicherungs + engineers, MPs, etc. )
It simply enriches the game...

But can be add the image of a rank of the commander.
Which is on a shoulder of a uniform.

But how do you imagine the appearance of the icon then?
Draw an example of such a suggested icon, please.

Quote:Michal= I've decide to separate:
- brigade HQs with commanders figures
- division HQs with badges only
also for better recognition.
Quote:Epoletov= It is better to not do separate.
HQ it is not enough on a battlefield and they are difficult for confusing.

I shall welcome only various images of armies ! cheers

RE: New NGP graphics - wait for opinions
I'am attaching my basic set of Belgian army icons.
I will put here subsequently the next basic sets of particular armies icons in following weeks.

I don't use the camo unitboxes, so my icons aren't adjusted to them (e.g. flags and signs).
I'm also not sure if they look good against such a background.

Michal

I have just started to add your graphics into DF85, where appropriate. It is certainly making things easier on the eyes.

Thanks for all the effort

Perhaps, from an artistic point of view. But the easier it is to tell a Corps HQ from a lower HQ, or to tell anything specific about a unit, makes that unit a lead magnet as the shells come screaming in turn after turn.

Uniformity, is a small form of camouflage for your units in these games. I would prefer the other player has to make a decision about using his firepower on this unit or that unit. No sure rewards to disrupt a valuable unit of mine because it is easy to identify by the artwork.

RE: New NGP graphics - wait for opinions
Dog Soldier,
I've got separate figures only for separate sort of units.
(eg. mechanized infantry, light infantry, air assault, airborne, MPs, etc.)
They differ and could be easily distinguished by enemy despite the same figure.
So it doesn't matter if they are represented by only one figure or by a few. More figures simply look more interesting ;)
If you prefer, I will also build one universal HQ icon for all HQ levels of given country
(eg. with M577 only for US).

Marc,
The icons are in general created for working with NGP'85.
However I didn't use the camouflage unitboxes, so I don't know how they work with them.
(by the way, please tell me how it works - if somebody uses them together)
I don't have DF'85 at the moment.
But I got its OOB and while making new icons I will suit their names to it - for the future.
Moreover, some icons are being created especially for Aaron's "Bolt".
They should also work with it well.

US Army icons are coming soon. I'm still introducing some corrections.
Everything made from scratch.

Michal
