Saved game help
:hissy: Wonder if anybody can help.

I have just installed a new hard drive and did a fresh install. I had just prior started a new PBEM game of winSPMBT. I kept my emails with the latest game turn.

Well to cut a boring story short - when I now go to start up the PBEM turn it says "Saved Game Failed to Load". Have I mucked something up?

Thanks in advance.

Where was the game security set? If it's the lower setting, you shouldn't have any problem. If it's the higher setting, I think you will need to start a new game. AFAIK, at the higher security setting, you cannot play the game on more then 1 computer per opponent. That is to prevent those with access to more then 1 computer from playing a turn on the 'dummy' computer, then going back and playing it on the main computer with the knowledeg in hand of what happened the first time that turn was played. Or something like that.

Stuff, thanks Grumbler. Still finding my feet with the SP PBEM system. Thought it might have something to do with security.

RE: Saved game help
Hi Nikb

Grumbler is quite correct, however, I would expect to see the message "Path to game changed" or similar if the game was reacting to you trying to load the save onto a different computer (It'll treat your "new" install as a different computer).

If you were playing (assuming we are talking about MBT or winSPww2) using "basic" security, then there should not be a problem.

It's hard to say what else could be wrong. Assuming that you have loaded your file from the emailed zip in the normal way into the save game directory...it should see it fine.

It is alway a hassle with PBEM and installs. Best to finish the game if possible before doing major surgery like that. Or just set up another I guess.

Good luck
