Thread rating
Is there any rationale behind this? Seemingly not.
Take the front page. Three five-goldstar threads. One of these is a discussion around a single scenario ...important and interesting stuff, but not uncommon. One of my occasional whinings about the MB rates 5 in the gold. Objectively, I would indded rate my thread as 5, but only if the ratings were measured not in stars but in dog turds. And there is one which pertains to a very important announcement..see below
Go down a bit, we see the regular update on the biggest tourney in the club's history (as I recall)..but only four gold stars
Further yet.....Mike Amos's release of a whole new game. What does the thread get??? Five grey stars, people. For the most important happening in quite a while, the event itself rates nothing special.

The defence rests, Your Honour........
1 reply, 21 views, about a marginal, non game-specific subject and this already rates three gold ones.

RE: Thread rating
Yes, it does appear very strange, doesn't it? I never did know what determined the various levels of stars, is there a FAQ on the function, anyone? Just curious....

Sort of reminds me of the political polls of which there seems to be a plethora...........no one actually pays them any mind :-)

RE: Thread rating
It seems the site perhaps calculates anaverage from givenratings? I just gave Huib's "New KW scenario" five stars, when it had none. Five it is, after one vote.

Petri has it? Idea2

I just gave the thread "CS AI" a 5 star rating (clicked on the stars in the rating column)... and since I was the only one to "vote"... presto - a 5 star rating! :funny:

Originally, I thought the star ratings were a reflection of user activity... maybe number of views... or number of posts in a thread. Idea2

But, as VE stated earlier... it looks to be a pretty meaningless statistic? :rolleyes2:

RE: Thread rating
LOL, yeah, had a bit to drink last night, before I went to bed, I was hovering the cursor over the stars in the one thread, and accidently clicked!! Mystery solved!! Seems very silly now!!
