General question and notice to opponents/team mates

General question and notice to opponents/team mates
As some have already noticed, I have not been on the forums in a while and will likely remain gone for the foreseeable future. Turns will also slow down. A business venture is entering the final stages of due diligence and will likely thereafter make large demands on my time (though possibly not... depending on how the final arrangements are made). Any decrease in turns will come first in scenario testing games, then in regular games, and lastly in team games and tournaments so as to hold up the fewest number of people.

Also, out of curiousity, has anyone tried to load a "fixed" unit into an unfixed transport unit? There are still a few mismatches out there. Like that a platoon of Kubelwagens can tow a battery of 150mm howitzers on a dirt road better than or equal to 2.5 ton trucks... Pretty neat trick on that tiny engine.

Take it easy all,

When I have tried it I've gotten messages that you cannot load a fixed unit ... nor a disrupted one.

Good luck in your business venture. Toast

cheers

I'm about to pack my family and pets, skis and sledges, sweaters and boots, into our trusted ol' Saab... It would normally take a 2.5 ton truck to have that accomplished... Here we go, regardless... At the end of the journey, there's even a dirt road involved... !!! :eek1:

Kubelwagens with 150mm howitzers?

Piece of cake compared to that! cheers

PS: Good luck with your venture!

LOL Of course I could never strike a pose like you do!

9-5 Wagon, white of course. Just tweaked the engine to run on bioethanol (E85). Added a bit of extra boost to turbo charger while at it :)

I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the new 9-5 SportCombi. I'm thinking the Aero version in Fjord Blue.

In the meantime, now that Hirsch is finally available in North America, I might see about upgrading the computer in "Lucia" for a few more horses.

I'm so happy Saab survived!

I have the official Saab software - from a totally unofficial source. A guy working at Nokia research center dropped in, with his lap top, and soon we were figuring out what type of an engine map would give out the nicest torque diagrams :)

I believe the OG 9-5 software sort of leaked out, it seems everyone and their dad has a version!

The new 9-5 looks really nice. I'm actually still considering the 9-3 cabrio for a second car.

The Geneva auto show should be revealing the 9-3 Cabrio Independence Edition:

Quote: .... from www.saabsunited.com

From what I’ve seen today, it seems that the Saab Independence edition will be focused completely on the Saab 9-3 Convertible.

The car will be based on the Aero Convertible and will have the 220hp 2.0T Biopower engine (from the 9-5) under the hood. It will also have a number of unique features:

A new color will be used – Sunset Red
New parchment seats, with center strip and piping (a-la the 20th Anniversary convertibles from a few years ago, but more pronounced and in orange)
Orange turbo instrument needle (a-la C900 and Turbo X)
New 18″ wheels
Hirsch leather instrument panel and other other Hirsch interior appointments
New ‘Super Sport’ steering wheel

That 366 number is a worldwide number, not a number for each market. Each car will be uniquely numbered via an etching on the rear left window showing what number out of 366 it is.

Something to consider if you are looking for one!

I am envious about your connections...

So Larry, what's the new venture?

RE: General question and notice to opponents/team mates
Whoops... I misspoke. It was a battery of 105mm howitzers that I can tow with Kubelwagens. The game prevents the 150s from being loaded.

Another question: when forces are lost in a parachute drop (I'm assuming losses taken to landing in water, trees, built up terrain, and landing on enemy units) these do not seem to be tallied in the "strength" count, or the point totals for victory. Is this correct? Could this be fixed, if so?

The business venture is nothing special, it is an automotive group. Somewhat complex, but as it looks like it will be constituted it will be predominantly towing, repair, and sales. If I can find the land, I'd like to go into the used parts business (a family friend made millions at this, literally - spends his time on his yacht in the Bahamas and traveling Europer, India, Middle East, Russia, China, the Pacific, and collecting classic cars and remote controlled planes). Now, I don't expect to get rich, and there is risk in anything, but this gives me more time and flexibility to be with my family and my daughter. I've had some med issues in the past, and I'm not really interested in spending whatever time I have left working at a job that ties you down. Eventually, I'd like to basically make most of this business, if the deal goes through, absentee ownership (keep my hand in, but not have to be there everyday). Wish us luck.
