3D miniatures
Just bought "Waterloo", noticed the unit miniatures are different than Leipzig? Any way to mod them to match?

Thanks!

There is - essentially it is all overlaying the ones that you want to replace, however one thing to consider is that it's entirely possible that when the artwork was done, some of those are probably period specific, so it may end up being finding something close and going with it.

However from the technical standpoint, yes they can be.

RE: 3D miniatures
You should compare the 3DUnits100(a-f).bmp files in the two games.
There are several of these as noted by the a-f with each being for a particular unit type.
If the files seem to have similar pictures in the same position they may work.
You will need to replace both the 50 and 100 files.

The other thing to consider is the oob file points to a particular picture/3Dicon for each unit.

In the past there were some mods created for the ACW games that produced a denser line and in some cases they could be used in more than one game.  The graphic files were not the same from one game to another so sometimes the unit side positions were different resulting in the wrong side being shown.

Don't know if WDS has done any work with standardizing the unit positions across the games of a series.

In the past I have created my own unit picture and 3D icon files using Paint.net to copy and paste from one file to another.

Over in the NAP 3rd Party Mod section you will find art mods for most of all of the series titles, especially the older ones.

Look for "Waterloo Art Mod by Philippe" and you can opt to use just his 3D files, if you choose to.

The displayed screen shots found within the above link may be dated to what you actually can use now as the mod was originally released almost 10 years ago however, it looks as if he updated his mod as recently as 1.5 weeks ago.

In doing a test for you, the units in his mod are in the style and look as the ones that you like in Leipzig. Wink
