changing component color
For the Strategic War series of games, is there a way to change the component color for a given division?

RE: changing component color
That is an excellent question, I have been fiddling with the editors but could not find it at all.

So my assumption is that its somehow buried in the scenario file its self but I am not sure how.

Looking at the Denmark scenario in the scenario editor and turning on organization, and selecting one of the units that is colored blue and then looking at the scenario text file and searching for that unit I see:

1 6 20 2218 27 1 44 100 1114112 0 0 Jutland Infantry Div

But no idea which of these values might be setting that color, nor what these values mean.

I searched the manuals and can't find that data either.

The manuals do say users can make their own scenarios but so far I am at a loss on how to use or edit all the parameters that make up a scenario, plus all the editors that come with the games.

Try changing a piece of the division name, such as changing a space to a dash. No clue if that will work, but it does to PzC. It changes randomly in that case, however.

I'll try that.

What I was hoping to do was break down all divisions to their 'components' [brigades?], and change their component colors to show attachment to a given army HQ, thereby offerinig a kind of command heirarchy.  Just a way of visualizing the heirarchy rather than really having one.

I look forward to some future update to the game adding such heirarchy.

That did work, thanks.

It seems that changing the unit name changes the mapping to the colors defined in the 2dSymbols file in the map folder.  I'm guessing it has the appearance of a random color selection, because we haven't yet determined what that mapping is.  Would be wonderful if WDS would tell us that mapping, pending an update to the game for command organization.
