maybe noobish question about assaults
If this is wrong part of forum, let me know;

I was wondering how does terrain affect defending armoured units during an assault?

Having a single armored unit in woods, do the woods help it in defending during an assault or does it make life easier for the attackers?

RE: maybe noobish question about assaults
I would have to read the manual, but off the top of my head I don't believe there is any adjustment to only armor defending in an assault in woods or other terrain. There is an impact on armor assaulting into forest hexes without infantry, but that is all I can think of.

It could be tested too - setup a test scenario with an infantry defender in woods, and a tank unit, and the same attacker in each case, and turn off on map results. That would show adjustments and thus any impact specific to one type but not the other.
